777B, 785, 789 TrucksDescription of Change: New auxiliary water pump groups are used. The drain hole in the housing assembly changed to provide improved sealing. Formerly a copper gasket (washer) was used between the housing and the drain plug. The drain hole in the housing now uses an o-ring seal. In vehicular appliions, a new elbow and seal are installed in the drain hole. The used of the o-ring seal will help prevent leaks.
Loion of new drain plug (2) and o-ring seal (1) on new auxiliary water pump groups. In vehicular appliions the drain plug is replaced by a new elbow.Adaptable To: The new 7E9781 Auxiliary Water Pump Group is a direct replacement for the former 5N5978 Auxiliary Water Pump Group in all but the vehicular appliions. In the radiator groups in the vehicular appliions (994 Loaders; 776B Tractors; 777B, 785, 789 Trucks), the former 7J8611 Elbow and 4B8407 Gasket have been replaced by the new 308276 Elbow and 3J1907 O-ring Seal. The new elbow is installed in the drain hole in the bottom of the auxiliary water pump housing in place of the drain plug. The new 7E9782 Auxiliary Water Pump Group is a direct replacement for the former 9Y8176 Auxiliary Water Pump Group used on 3512...4KC, and 3516...3RC Spark-Ignited Engines.

3500 Series EnginesDescription of Change: A round air cleaner inlet adapter is now available. Formerly, only a rectangular adapter was available. The new round air cleaner inlet adapter allows 305 mm (12") round air inlet ducts to be connected to the air cleaners. The new adapter can be connected to the round inlet duct with a Hump-Hose connector or flexible ducting and band clamps.Adaptable To: The new 7W9828 Air Cleaner Adapter Group (round) is adaptable to all 3500 Series Engines. The 7W9828 Air Cleaner Adapter Group (round) can be used in place of the 7N8549 Air Cleaner Adapter Group (rectangular). The 285-5989 Engine Turning Tool has been released for use on the engines for the large mining trucks. The tool also can be used on all 3500 Series Engines and C175 Engines. The new engine turning tool bolts to the access hole in the flywheel housing. The tool also uses double needle bearings for smooth operation. The engine turning tool has an external, 25.4 mm (1.00 inch) hex head. The large hex head allows the technician to apply the higher torque that is required to turn the large 3520 and 3524 Engines.
